As part of our ongoing effort to maintain our planet’s health, we are thrilled to announce that we now offer biodegradable plastic bottles to our customers and distributors. This earth-friendly packaging solution not only helps our planet stay greener, but offers our customers added peace of mind and a healthier alternative to traditional bottled water.

Our Biodegradable Bottles’ plastic are made with FDA-recognized, “food grade” ingredients, which undergo a unique and innovative biodegrading process when thrown away. As the plastic polymer weakens, the organic compounds attract anti-microbial activity, and do not merely decompose, but actually biodegrade. Unlike ordinary plastic bottles, Biodegradable Bottles break down much more quickly and do not leave behind any harmful by-products.

Are Biodegradable Water Bottles compostable or recyclable?
Not all degradable bottles are the same, but UltraPure’s bottles can be recycled with other PET plastics and they are biodegradable in commercial composts and landfills.

Do Biodegradable Water Bottles look different from PET plastic bottles?
No. Our biodegradable bottles are virtually indistinguishable from regular bottles.

How does Biodegradable Water Bottle biodegrade?
The components of this bottles actually attract micro-organisms which literally eat the plastic.  However, this can only happen once the bottle is placed in a microbial-rich environment like a landfill or compost site.  That is why they have a long shelf-life, but degrade quickly once disposed of.

What is the shelf life of a Biodegradable Water Bottle?
UltraPure’s biodegradable bottles can last for years on the self, just like regular plastic bottles.  Once introduced into the microbial environment they can break down in 1 to 5 years depending on specific conditions.

Do Biodegradable bottles cost more?
Truthfully, yes.  However, UltraPure has made the commitment to absorb the additional cost of the bottles because we want all of our customers to adopt these environmentally friendly bottles.  By removing the price barriers, regular PET users will be free to switch.

How Do I Know These Bottles Are Safe?
All additive components are covered under FDA CFR title 21 Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS).  In addition, Keller and Heckman (a large FDA verification firm) has validated the manufacturer’s additives meet all the FDA requirements and have provided a short letter to confirm the verification.  Migration (extended leaching) testing has also been performed on these bottles with the manufacturer’s additive validating no migration of chemicals.
